Usually I wake up early and spend some time in the prayer room before each day begins. However, this time was different. He asked me to go outside and watch the sunrise. When I walked outside I was unsure why I was going to watch the sunrise when I couldn’t even see it rise because of where we are located and the trees that cover the view. But He still asked me to be outside of the 4 walls and sit outside….to simply be still and listen to the noises and see the color.

underneath a tree with warm, comforting lanterns, I sat

the color of the sky turned gradually

dark deep navy blue

to a bluish gray

through the branches and in between the leaves

hues of orange, pink and yellow then

turn lighter and lighter

clouds begin to float in

and stars begin to fade into the background

the morning dawns a new day

Breathe it in

It’s a new day

vibrating throughout the place

the symphony of roosters crowing

airplanes flying in and out

birds chirping

the girls getting ready for school-

some moaning

some giggling

the sun always rises and always sets

filling the air

the smell of eggs frying

oatmeal thickening on the stove

and buttered bread toasting

I watched as night became day

a new day being birthed

the sun begins to pop up

over the trees

across the city

buses making their way through the city

trikes swerving in and out of traffic

life begins all over again

each new day brings new adventures

new stories

its your choice

to see

to hear

to be a part of them

one at a time

Don’t miss the sunrises and.

wake up

Its a new day

do you notice it

I literally just opened my bible and this was underlined “whoever finds me, finds life” proverbs 8:35. Today i want to find Jesus in every step, every breath that i take, every person i encounter…a sunsets nd in turn find LIFE. I want to see the life and goodness in each moment. I hold onto hope. Each day is the Lord’s. I desire to savor each moment today and each day. To genuinely cherish the moments in a day. I want to come to the end of each day with no regrets, having loved well and knowing I gave a little more than yesterday. I don’t want to miss whats in today because I was too focused on getting somewhere, doing something or my own faults. May I set my gaze firstly on Jesus because as I do, the things that don’t really matter will fade away and I can learn to fully savor each moment and ultimately fully savor the Father. His goodness is everywhere. Color and life are found everywhere. May I see with new eyes. May I notice the beauty and blessing in each moment.

  1. Love this LB. You have such an incredible ability to SEE all that God has before you. Continue to open your eyes to His goodness. There is so much that He has for you! And, you don’t have to “do” anything to get it because He’s done it all already. LOVE you!

  2. …and it’s only half of the story sweet girl 🙂 Your Father’s smile was as big as the sunrise as he watched you receive all that he was orchestrating for you to experience. You bless me 🙂
