Today we were scheduled to go to a high school, do a skit, sing some songs and share two testimonies. However, The Lord said differently. Let me first walk you through the day. We left the house at 7, got to the place we were going to meet the pastor at and waited for an hour. At this point we still had no idea that our plans had changed. We begin walking for a bit and get to what we thought was the high school. We walk in and the lady begins talking about abandoned children that have many physical and mental needs. At this point we asked what we were doing and were finally told that the high school visit got cancelled because the teachers didn’t show up. I think it is kind of funny how our team had planned this really cool skit and even I was ready to share my story to some high schoolers…but God had us here instead on purpose.

We toured the property and met the children. For the first time here in Honduras my heart broke for this nation. It took looking in the face of children that were ABANDONED with many physical and mental needs. You see, every day we do ministry…we teach english, play soccer, pray for people in hospitals and other various things. But, this was different… It was unplanned, a little out of my comfort zone and more than necessary.  It had nothing to do with us because we had nothing planned and nothing to expect. It had nothing to do with us and everything to do with Jesus and his children. The volunteers brought all the kids out and pastor asked us to do our skit. Our skit was for high school students that struggle with getting high on paint thinner and drinking alcohol and nothing to do with these children. We stood their blank faced for a bit and the the Lord spoke to me and said “I did this on purpose because I don’t want your planning and knowing….I just want you to show up” So, we showed up. All he wants is for us to show up and He does the rest! We sang a few songs and then just played with them.

Today I realized more than ever that all Jesus has asked me to do is show up…to simply step foot onto this nation. I am here and that’s all he has asked me to do is BE here. As I am here I simply walk in love and freedom. Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. I have the spirit in me. Therefore, everywhere i walk i bring freedom just by stepping into a place! How cool. It has nothing to do with me and everything to do with Jesus. I can say the right things and do the right things but if it’s not about Jesus and not clothed in Jesus then it does not even matter. I would rather mess it all up, sing horribly, stutter, get something translated wrong and just bomb it so long as it was all about jesus and only immersed in the love of Jesus Christ! I don’t want to have it all squared away. I don’t want this to be about me and what I can do or say. I want it to simply be all about Jesus and the Love of the Father. I desire to simply show up and Jesus do the rest.

Today I am thankful for plans changing and for walking into the unknown. My heart breaks for this nation known as the fatherless nation. But I declare a nation of Sons and Daughters with a good Father that never leaves or abandons them. A father that calls them home…to himself and loves with a deep love that is addicting. Thank You Jesus that you are changing the atmosphere, calling people by their name and loving with a irresistible love. Help me to not forget you in everyday life and ministry. Help me to just show up and Be. You’re enough! Give me ears to hear when you are asking me to speak and when you’re asking me to be quiet…when you are asking me to do and when you’re asking me to BE. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Thank you! Breathe life back into this nation!

Meet Arasmo…when we walked in he immediately began laughing and was eager to hug everyone. His laugh is contagious and smile literally makes you smile every time!  He can walk and physically function pretty normally. However, his speech and understanding is not as functioning. This boy stole my heart when we got there. He’s not an abandoned child…but a wanted son by the Father!
